Have your say on Training Package

6 December 2017

Consultation on changes to the real estate training package, which aims to streamline qualifications nationally, is open until 22 December 2017.

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee approved a case for change proposed by the Property Services Industry Reference Committee (IRC) to review the Real Estate Training Package in June 2017.

Proposed changes to the Property Services Training Package aim to make the qualifications fit for purpose and more suitable to meet job roles and outcomes.

As a result, the Department of Education and Training is completing a project including a full review and update of the industry’s qualifications and units.

REINSW’s involvement in the review

A technical advisory group (TAG), chaired by Danielle Andrews, REINSW Education and Training Manager, has been established by the IRC to oversee the project and provide input. The TAG includes representatives from employers, employees, industry, RTOs and regulators.

The TAG has so far undertaken:

  • A full redevelopment of the Certificate IV as a licensing qualification

  • A redevelopment of the Diploma to provide a professional development pathway and to house higher skill endorsement

  • Development of Certificate III as entry into the industry at an administration level.

Industry consultation has included meetings with key regulators, presentations at industry briefings organised by the REI’s around the country, and direct consultation with key stakeholders.
