Property investors to lobby the government

A new lobby group has been formed with the aim of stopping residential landlords being ‘singled out’.

The Property Investors Council of Australia describes itself as a not-for-profit association run “by property investors, for the interests of property investors”.

It was inevitable that residential property investors would be drawn together to lobby the government, because they shoulder more burden than other types of investors, including the costs of a tenant’s personal circumstances.

Every investor has a long list of concerns they focus on, and one of the most important is the threatened abolition of negative gearing.

Real estate institutes across the country have lobbied against negative gearing restrictions for years and we welcome this group lending its voice to these concerns.

NSW needs more residential property, yet government’s response is to disincentives investment.
